Here are a few images of various bits of productions where I have worked as a scenic artist. I also worked on the floor and columns used in The Imaginary Invalid, and was the sole scenic artist for my Gallery Series and New Play Festival work showcased on my Scenic Designs page. Pocketful of Sand, MOLD, Half-Sick of Shadows.

As this was a fairly impromptu independent study course to save on resources the image was painted directly onto the paint shop floor.
I primed an appropriate area on the floor and used snapped lines and 3-4-5 triangles to make a true 10'x16' rectangle. Then I created a one-foot grid and used this to make a cartoon of the image with charcoal. The paint was applied in various washes working from back to foreground.
This is a Translucent Drop for Two Gentlemen of Verona that I painted at the Indiana Repertory Theatre in the Summer of 2014. I had the pleasure of working with Claire Dana and the lovely people at IRT during a month long internship.
During the course of this internship I worked on several projects and helped develop samples while focusing primarily on this large translucent drop. I helped stretch the 20'x40' raw muslin and size it with starch. I used chalklines and 3-4-5 triangles to square the image and cartooned the image on brown paper which i prepared as a pounce using an electro-pounce device. I was then allowed to transfer the cartoon and do all line work. A final wash was applied to the drop before the show opened but unfortunately after my internship had ended.
Backdrop painted on 3mm plastic sheeting with brush and roller, LED lights reflecting off rear cyc allow for color change effect. The boathouse is painted masonite, deteriorating paint effect achieved by applying paint with wood block.
I Distressed the cement backing board and added rust stains. I also painted the rusty trim with peeling white paint, painted and added stucco treatment to the bricks, and painted the "cement" edge pieces.

Texture is achieved by graining with a thick MEI and Joint Compound base layer with some sawdust pushed into it. Colored washes finish it out. This production is still in process.
Weathered wooden fence. Various colored washes and white chalk. Still in production.
Wallpaper created by spraying through a lace curtain. Gold highlights were added in by hand.
