Three Sisters

Let's be honest, Chekhov is theatre for actors. And while the Three Sisters is about the human condition and the passage of time, action and inaction, the slow march of progress, class and society on the eve of the Bolshevik Revolution; in order to be engaging the show needs to be about the characters.

I used a mirrored floor to point out very bluntly, just how much standing around and looking at themselves these people actually do! a series of white aircraft cables surround the playing space to depict both the cage the sisters feel themselves locked into, and to point out just how little effort would really be required to change that.

The play was designed for the Marian Theatre at the PCPA TheatreFest.
